Snowdrop Update

I have managed to finish one of the three peacocks today. I am painting in the second one now and hoping to have it complete by this evening. Ultimately I would LOVE to have all three done by the time I finish working for the day but I am not sure if that is going to happen. I guess this will be finished in its own time. I had hoped to have it complete today but I didn't make as much progress on it this week.

My goal is to have this finished on Friday with prints immediately available for sale after completion. I am not sure what I will be doing next. I have a lot of things planned but I am not sure what is going to emerge from my mind the next time around. I have a lot of things that I have to do and a lot of things that I want to do.

This weekend I did a lot of work on my new piece "Snowdrop" I am hoping to have the finished version completed this week though some Painter X crashes deleted some of my progress.

Here is a closeup of my progress so far. I want to work on the peacocks today. Prints will be available the day it is complete.

Once upon a time I was a painfully awful artist. So bad in fact I can't even believe just how bad it was a mere 5 years ago. I THANK THE GODS that I have progressed to a level that doesn't make me want to poke out my own eyes when I look at my art. I am debating on wether or not to undertake a large scale project I have wanted to do since the beginning of my career but apparently it failed in the past because I lacked the skill to do it properly. Right now I am working on the first piece in a large scale series that I would eventually like to have some sort of gallery show for.

Honestly I can't believe I shared that photo with you, it is the art version of a horrific childhood photo where I gave myself a haircut naked or something. Oh well, enjoy!

I should have this piece done digitally by Wednesday. Also I will have this printed out and will be painting on top of it.

So I have been so burned out lately doing commercial workSo I have been so burned out lately doing commercial work that I wanted to do something a little more personal just for a break. I haven't been painting too much lately as I have been busy exploring other avenues. There are some things I am really excited about and I am hoping they pan out.

Right now I am painting this:

I am hoping to make a sizable dent in it today with a finish by the end of the week. Then it is back to the commercial work like Fortuna, a maneki neko and a countless list of other things I have planned.

The weather is starting to turn fine here in the UK. Today I am blogging in my little back yard while Riookie consumes his weight in grass. He will throw it up in an hour or so, most likely on something of mine that I like. He loves his little plot of grass and screams most of the day if he is not out. I don't leave him out there unsupervised. Loki will stand in the doorway and Mischief won't venture out at all which is just as well.

Cezar has been diagnosed with arthritis and is now being treated for it. He is starting his physical therapy walks now after a 10 day rest period. He gets 3 five min walks a day. He is doing well on medication so I am hopeful.

Mischief is now a professional model! A friend of mine who is just starting out in photography though wildly talented took some pics of him. I love them all but I always thinks Mischief looks handsome!

I myself am glad the weather is warming up. I have been cooped up indoors way too long and want to actually SEE more of England then I have done thus far. I have been painting away and just finished my lates piece titled "In Wonderland"

Ticking off the to do list

With my Cintiq part here and my tablet operational again I can start working on things that have been piling up. I finished the wedding commission. I am now working again on some commercial and other art. I am mostly working digitally this days because for me it is faster and I need to be fast! I miss paint, I do but Digital has spoiled me with no drying times and unlimited options.

This week I intend to make headway on my "Death" oracle card. It is called "The Last" for obvious reasons. I want it finished this week but we will see what happens. Progress shots so far:

I also have a new Cheshire Cat piece I am doing to replace the retiring one, please note this is still in the planning stages:

I am putting together ideas for the 4th Fortuna piece as well as a Maneki Neko, some cat figurine concepts and a few other things. My goal for the week is to minimally finish the "corpsacorn" and start the Cheshire cat as well as have a plan for Fortuna #4 which I will complete next week. I really need to kick it in gear!

Gargoyle WIP 2

13 hours of straight painting later (I did stop for food) I am nearly finished my latest painting. Really all I have to do is paint Fortuna himself and add a few little things. This will be the last WIP I will post.

With any luck this will be complete by tomorrow but keep in mind I am also working on a commission. I have no intention of working on Saturday or Sunday as I need a break. If I finish this painting tomorrow and the commission on Monday I will start the 4th Fortuna piece Tuesday. Then I will be working on a unicorn oracle card. Then Fortuna again.

Anyway I'm boring myself talking about my painting schedule. As I haven't gotten approval for the commission and it is 1 am here I am going to reward myself with a book and bed!

Gargoyle WIP

Right now I am working on a wedding commission and a Fortuna the cat piece. While I await feedback on the commission, I work on the painting. I have the sketch hashed out FINALLY. I hope you like it, third in the series called "Gargoyle"

The waterspout is a real one in Manchester England. I have a feeling this year's calendar will be inspired by my stay here in the UK. I don't want to go superliteral with it by having him fly by Big Ben or anything but I want it to have the feel of England without it screaming "God save the Queen" If you know what I mean. I intend to do at least one more Fortuna piece before continuing on with my Unicorn Oracle series. I have so much to do this year I really feel like I am behind.

I have opened my UK Etsy shop. It will remain open in conjunction with its American sister site and when I do return back to the USA the UK hub will remain.

Retiring Prints

Hi Everyone,

I have been really busy working on some new artwork for you. I should have the new Fortuna art for you by the end of the week. I have been looking back on my art this week as I am deciding on what to list in my UK Etsy Shop and I have decided to discontinue a lot of my older prints especially older Fortuna art. I like to have a clear out from time to time. You never keep clothes that don't fit or suit you anymore so why make exceptions to that philosophy in other aspects of your life. Over the years Fortuna has morphed into something quite grand and I want him to keep continuing on the way he has been.

If there are any prints you want me to add simply message me and I will get them up ASAP. This will be a process as I am building this in my spare time inbetween other obligations.

Firefly WIP

I am currently working on the second in a series of 12 Fortuna the cat paintings for the 2013 Calendar! I am hoping to just do one after another but I am not sure how successful I am really going to be with that. I want them to be of the highest quality possible for you guys and I want to make something really great this year. As you can tell from the first one and this progress shot, Fortuna has grown up a little bit. I have been wanting to do a makeover on him for a while now and I personally like the result. I hope you do too!!

I will have prints by Sunday at the latest! And then on to the next one!
